FAQs

Common questions about Netherlands.

After graduation, you get a 12-Month Orientation Year (Zoekjaar) permit to find a job as a Highly Skilled Migrant. Apply within 3 years of graduation (fee: €243). You have full work rights (unlimited hours) during this period. Can only be used once per degree level.

This is a Healthcare Allowance. Since you pay for mandatory Dutch Health Insurance, the government refunds approx €120/month to your account if your income is low. It basically makes insurance free!

Employment requires a work permit (TWV) and is capped at 16hrs/week. Self-Employment (Freelancing/UberEats/Temper) requires NO permit and has UNLIMITED hours. Most students choose Option B.

It depends. For the *first year* visa, most universities require 100% tuition + living deposit upfront. From the 2nd year onwards, you can pay in installments.

Dutch student visa rejection rate is extremely low (<1%) if the university sponsors you (TEV procedure) and funds are transferred to them. Rejections usually happen only due to fake documents.
